Winter Inversions and What They Mean for Indoor Air Quality

winter-inversions-indoor-air-qualityNo matter what part of the country you reside in, your indoor air quality can be worse than that of the quality outdoors. When you live somewhere like Utah, that becomes an even bigger problem—due to something called an inversion.

Wintertime inversions are a common occurrence here, and happen when normal atmospheric conditions become inverted, trapping a dense layer of cold air under a layer of warm air, and along with it trapping pollutants. As can be expected, this makes the air outdoors and within your home very unhealthy—particularly if you are not equipped with the right indoor air quality products.

Why Is This So Bad for Your Health?

Fine particular matter—dust, debris, pollen, and even car emissions—can pass through your nose and throat, causing significant respiratory illnesses, particularly in individuals who already suffer from allergies or asthma. While the risk and danger is real, there is something you can do to protect yourself and your family.

What You Can Do for Your Home

There are a number of quality Ogden, UT indoor air quality products that can help improve the quality of your indoor air. Air filtration systems help, as do air purifiers. The air filter that comes standard with your HVAC system is not enough on it’s own.

In fact, this air filter is mainly just to protect the inside components of your system. High quality air filters, however, such as the pleated or electrostatic filters we offer, can remove solid particulates such as dust, pollen, mold, and bacteria from the air.

What You Can Do for the Community

It’s up to everyone to do what they can to reduce emissions within the community. This will not only help keep you and your family healthy, but can help the collective impact on air quality throughout the area.

At Rentmeister Total Home Service, we understand the unique indoor air quality needs of Salt Lake City area residents. Contact our IAQ experts today for superior products and services.
