Our Professional Difference

The Installer is the Difference
A consumer report says “It’s the contractor who will make the biggest difference in how well the furnace replacement goes.”

United Technologies (Carrier, Payne, Bryant, Day & Night) & York (York, Coleman, Luxaire, Guardian) says:
25% of the install is the equipment and 75% is the company that you have install it.

We believe that we at Rentmeisters have more benefits than any other company out there. Lets discuss some of the differences. We went to a Syracuse city meeting w/ a lot of HVAC companies who install in Syracuse. We found out some important information.

Sizing the Equipment Difference
None of the companies except for Rentmeisters does the continual Heat Loss/ Heat Gain calculations to determine the proper size of the equipment needed. They all did it by sizing to square footage. Our goal has been for years to size it right and the customer will be better satisfied and more comfortable.

Consumer Reports says “When it comes to furnaces, size counts—a lot. A furnace that’s too small won’t keep the house comfortable during extreme cold. Partly to avoid that possibility, most installed furnaces are too large for the home they’re installed in. Cost is only one of the problems with such a unit. Compared with a correctly sized furnace, a furnace that’s too large will cycle on and off more frequently. That puts more wear on its components, wastes energy, and may cause the temperatures to vary uncomfortably. Also, upgrading to a larger furnace may require the installation of bigger ducts to accommodate the increase airflow. Without proper duct sizing, the airflow can be noisy.”

Room by Room Calculation
None of the companies do a room by room calculation. We have extended our sizing to include a room by room heat loss/ heat gain for sizing ductwork accurately for the whole house. We have noticed 4 benefits apply
  1. We properly sized the equipment
  2. Each room is getting the proper air flow
  3. Lower fuel consumption
  4. Better comfort room to room
This gives us a happier & satisfied customer.

Let me stress: Not one company was doing a professional job - they guessed at their work.

Proper Duct Design
We found that no other company understood duct design like us. New regulation has hit this year (2008) demanding companies to size according to the manual D. Still the push by other companies was to size by square footage. We stood up for sizing the proper sizing methods. We have been sizing properly for many years because Rentmeister desire is to give quality and professionalism to customers. We found out that no other company met these criteria.

Picking Your Company
Does it really matter what equipment you choose if you don’t pick the proper company to install? Our answer is “No”. It is important; you must size the equipment properly with Calculations. You must do a Room by Room calculation for better comfort. You must size the ductwork properly as well to get total whole house comfort. Because of this we will stand by our installs. Each system will have our own Model # and Serial # from Rentmeisters. With this number we will stand behind our product 100% on installs.

Properly Maintained Equipment
Your responsibility is to keep it serviced. Equipment is now more fragile and needs to be yearly maintained. Not just cleaning or replacing the equipment but servicing. We have seen equipment with bad heat exchangers in 7-10 years old because of improperly maintained equipment. Keeping it properly maintained will allow the furnace to run with in its design conditions and will allow your furnace to reach its designed years of usage. Check out our USA agreements and save now.

Consumer Reports says “A service plan that combines regular inspections with discounts on repairs and a labor warranty is worth negotiating into the overall price.”

Choosing Equipment
Our choice for which equipment we install is from the following criteria
  1. Best value (not necessary the cheapest
  2. If something goes wrong we want parts availability to fix them. Some manufactures only have one supplier in the state of Utah.
  3. Past Equipment Problems.
  4. Sizing capacities to your heat loss/ Heat gain

Consumer reports says
“Variable Speed Blowers- These can deliver air more slowly (and often more quietly) when less heat is needed. Heat can then be delivered more continuously, with fewer drafts or uncomfortable swing temperatures and airflow.

Variable Heat Output- Available on some furnaces that have variable blower speed, This feature can further increase efficiency and comfort by automatically varying the amount of heat the furnace deliver, usually between two levels. The furnace can then deliver heat more continuously than a fixed heat output allows.”

Our Package Comparison

Quotes from Consumer Reports:

Price- “Be wary of bids that are considerably below others: the contractor may be cutting corners in ways that compromise the system effectiveness.”

Manufacturers- Two major manufacturers of gas furnaces are United Technology (Carrier, Bryant, Heil, Tempstar, and Comfortmaker brands) and Goodman (Janitrol and Amana). Other brands include Rheem (Ruud), American Standard (Trane), and Lennox (Armstrong).

Repair or replace- Despite the improved efficiency of most new furnaces, it’s generally most cost- effective to repair a furnace than to replace it. However, if a key component such as heat exchanger or control module fails, you’re probably better off replacing the furnace, especially if the unit is more than 15 years old (Furnaces typically last an average of 15 to 18 years).

Duct Cleaning- Duct cleaning services typically promise to rid your heating system of dust, bacteria, or other harmful contaminants. Yet there’s little evidence such cleaning is needed, If you do get the service, insist on a thorough job; in a pilot project, the Environmental Protection Agency found it took 16 to 30 hours to clean the ducts of a typically home. If the company you hire didn’t spend that much time, it’s likely they were not thorough.
